Ensuring Display Compliance in Bars, Hotels and Restaurants
Branded signage and displays aren’t just for retail stores. Learn why maintaining display compliance in bars, hotels, and restaurants matters and how to keep it on track.
For spirits, beer, and even non-alcohol brands, securing a branded display or sign in a bar or hotel is a win – but it only pays off if executed correctly. Display compliance in hospitality means ensuring that the agreed-upon branding (like a lighted sign, a tent card, or a cooler wrap) is actually in place and in good condition.
Challenges abound
Venues might store away your sign when space gets tight, staff might not replace a tabletop promo when it gets wet or dirty, or a competing brand’s materials might edge into your spot. That’s why regular checks are important. A quick visit or call to the venue can confirm if your neon sign is switched on nightly as promised.
Many beverage companies use a store compliance app adapted for hospitality. Reps can rate each venue: did the venue display the brand’s promotions (yes/no), and even attach a photo of the bar. This creates accountability. Some brands even negotiate incentives for display compliance – for example, the bar might get a bonus or discount if they maintain the display for the entire promo period.
Consistent branding across on-trade locations reinforces the brand in consumers’ minds. A traveler who sees your whiskey’s emblem in the hotel bar and again in an airport lounge gets multiple impressions, increasing the likelihood of trial. Keeping those displays up consistently is thus directly tied to brand building and sales.
Conclusion
Don’t let your on-trade displays collect dust in a storeroom. By actively monitoring and encouraging compliance with bar and hotel promotions, brands ensure they reap the full benefit of their on-trade marketing investments – more visibility, more orders, and a stronger brand presence in the hospitality channel.
